Tammy Price of Fragments Identity spins a dream home for actress Abigail Spencer. Photographs throughout by Jenna Peffley.
It’s easy to get obsessed with the work of Tammy Price of Fragments Identity. Her interpretation of California cool weaves sumptuous textures and materials into organic pieces, from cable knit throws to slipcovered furniture and worn wooden benches, that are at once luxurious and laid-back.
So when photographer Jenna Peffley brought along some of Price’s pieces for a shoot with Abigail Spencer, it was only a matter of moments before the actress started stalking the designer on Instagram, then quickly tapped her to revamp the actress’ Studio City home.
The 1700 square foot 1928 Spanish Colonial includes plenty of outdoor spaces and a bungalow/office in the back was chaotic with pieces Spencer had collected. “The main goal was to create a pulled together update of her home,” says Price. “She had items and details from various times and places in her life so we needed to bring everything together.”
Spencer, currently in production on Josh Corbin and director Jonathan Van Tulleken’s “Reprisal” for Hulu, spends a lot of time away from home: traveling to Vancouver for her role as Professor Lucy Preston; to Toronto to play Dana Scott on USA’s “Suits”; and, to Boston to portray “Donna,” on YouTube Premium’s dark comedy, “Wayne”.
She wanted a space that felt like a calm, cool, relaxed and welcoming respite from the chaos of her production schedule where she could entertain friends and hang out with her son. ““I think Abigail was super excited to see the home come together with a fresh and inviting look and feel where she could not only live a comfortable family life but also entertain and host,” says Price.
“The entertainment room was definitely one of our favorite spaces and the largest transformation,” Price explains. “The room had a custom sofa built along the wall that came with the house and it functioned really well for a TV viewing area but we needed to update it to fit the rest of the home we were creating. We designed crisp white linen wash slip covers to give it an update and changed the whole look of the room while utilizing the custom made sofa. This was a really awesome opportunity to bring in our Fragments Identity aesthetic while still utilizing the preexisting layout.”
“After we finished, she was able to host a really lovely dinner party in her backyard before she left to go film her next show on location for four months,” Price says, “That’s probably the most rewarding feeling for me – to see a client be able to celebrate and utilize the spaces we create immediately!”
