Gets Personal with Her Own Kitchen Renovation
To most, renovating a kitchen is an overwhelming task. But for designer Chloe Redmond Warner of Redmond Aldrich Design, overhauling the kitchen in her Oakland home offered an opportunity. Warner attributes her decisiveness and her team as the key components of the 11 week renovation. “I don’t suffer from my own decisions,” says Warner.
With the help of n, Warner completely refreshed the space while maintaining the existing envelope. A door was shortened to a window while a chimney was cleverly converted into a breakfast nook for her family of four.
“We didn’t have an eat-in area prior to the redesign,” says Warner. An avid cook, Warner desired a space that had new energy and offered a unique setting for the heart of her home. She’s not a fan of sheetrock, so shiplap was used along the walls, creating both depth and texture.
A show-stopping white La Cornue range is flanked by custom-bleached oak cabinets by Mueller Nicholls. “I prefer wood to a painted finish,” says Warner. “I think it adds depth.” Green, blue and white geometric-print wood floor tiles by Mirth Studio create a beautifully bold effect.
